Famous for its Mediterranean beach resorts and casinos and lively nightlife of Nice, Cannes and Monte Carlo, the French Riviera boasts a sunny mild climate and sandy beaches. The area is also famous for both its cuisine, wine and other beverages including Chartreuse and regional wines; the vineyards and golden stone villages of Beaujolais are located just outside Lyon.
The Rhone Alps region presents an extraordinary natural environment that without parallel: stunning mountains offering some of the finest and most extensive skiing areas in the world such as the Three Valleys, Val d'Isère and Chamonix alongside lush valleys filled with orchards and the vineyards of Beaujolais and the Rhone Valley. Additionally the area has great river ways and scores of crystal clear lakes, deep gorges and high plateaux of the Ardèche which is littered with prehistoric caves alongside national parks full of deep forests and flower-filled meadows.
