With the weather improving as we enjoy Spring and head into Summer our thoughts turn to outdoor activities more and more – for me it is either Golf or basking in the sunshine doing nothing special. We have found that although some of the golf courses on the Cote d’Azur can be quite expensive to play on, many of the them offer very good deals on ‘twilight games’ which means playing after around 4pm – which in the summer is no hardship as it is often a little too hot during the middle of the day and who wants to get up at the crack of dawn when you are on holiday. There are also some excellent courses offering 9 hole golf which often suits me best whilst we are away. It doesnt take up so much time and leaves us with more of the day to enjoy the many other activities – or non-activities!! ie sunbathing, relaxing and reading on the beach or around a pool, long relaxed lunches in the sunshine or visits to the very many museums, shows and festivals that are on during the following few months. It doesnt seem to matter how often we go or how long we stay, when we get back there we never manage to fit all the ideas of what to do into the time we have. There are approximately a dozen golf courses in the area and even more within an hour. Golfers are well provided for in most areas of France and particularly well on the Northern and Western coasts ie Normandy, Brittany, Pas de Calais, Vendee, Landes, Gironde and Pyrenees Atlantic with a wide selection of golf courses open to visitors.
